Once again, the moving power and providence of God was apparent in the triumphant celebration of the Pentecostal Missionary Church of Christ ( 4th Watch ) Gunma Local’s 9th Church Anniversary, held in their very own Church Building last August 9,2020 at Takasaki Shi, while observing strict health measures amidst a global pandemic. The theme this year was “ Offering God our Sacrifice of Thanksgiving at All Times” from 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Indeed , the atmosphere was jubilant as the brethren and guests filled the halls with their glorious praise and worship songs at the beginning of Sunday School. Sis. Elizabeth Kagimura led the ceremonies while Sis. Miku Tokita led the congregational singing. There were no dry eyes when Sis. Ivy Pascua led the Opening Prayer. The message was then ministered by Pastor Celso Rosas, Japan District Committee Member and Gunma Local Head Minister.
After a short break, the Thanksgiving Worship immediately followed. A special opening number was first presented by the Youth Department, followed by the processional of program partakers. Elder Nathalia Hoshino served as the master of ceremonies while Sis. Jackie Bargamento led the soulful praise and worship. This brought everyone to a meditative spirit while kneeling down in grateful prayer led by Bro. Motoki Kuramae.
The reading of the Holy Scriptures came up next led by Bro. Bong Bargamento. Then a song of praise was once again rendered by the Youth Department. Pastor Celso Rosas gave the Offertory Message. He expounded on the right attitude in giving. He highlighted that if we want to reap abundantly, sow abundantly. He even challenged the congregation with the testimony of the Macedonian brethren, who despite their great trials and affliction gave abundantly through the riches of their liberality.
Thereafter, another song of exultation was rendered unto the Lord by the Local Flock Leaders and Assistant Leaders. An encouraging testimony was later shown through an audio-visual presentation. Pastor Celso once again took the stage to introduce the event’s guest speaker – Pastor Ruth Lirio Rosas. Pastor Ruth is a member of Japan District Committee, the incumbent Japan District Secretary, and a Minister of Gunma Local.
Pastor Ruth discussed the occasion’s theme through the topic “Reasons to Give God Thanks Despite Difficult Times ”.She further encouraged the assembly by reiterating that God is able to turn even the most unfortunate and unpleasant events into good and pleasant situations, thus, favoring God’s children in the end. All we need to do is to continually put our trust in God, focus on God’s promises and keep on strengthening our faith in Him.
With hearts full of thanksgiving, everyone gave their offerings while Bro. Angelo Arceta and Sis. Akiko Shizuka Arceta sang “My Tribute”.
